CRC Speedshow Auckland New Zealand

Photo subtitles will be in English from now on.

With the media pass in my hands I was able to discover the area of the 11th CRC Speedshow here in Auckland. The CRC Speedshow is described as New Zealands ultimative automotive playground and the ideal place to to fuel your passion about cars, motorsport, automotive products, mega live action and much more… What should I say? I wasn’t disappointed…

As New Zealand seems to be a paradise for car enthusiasts (due to their loose modification laws) I was expecting a lot of highly modified cars. First cars who took my attention was the purpose built BMW E30 and the Toyota Supra in full race spec.

This super clean wide body Nissan Skyline GT-R didn’t even caught a lot of attention as it isn’t that special or rare here in NZ. A lot of GT-R are driven here casually.

Yes, a old Mini Cooper, but look a little closer…

Exactly, a SR20VE powered version of the famous UK Racer!

Cars from BMW and especially the E30 are kinda popular here in NZ. No wonder as most of them are in brand new condition due to lack of salt and stones on the streets. Haven’t seen any rusty car here at all. #WEINERSCHNITZEL

The ASB Showground in Auckland also provides a little dynamic area where small drift shows or burnout contests (wtf?) can be held. As everyone was outside I went inside to be able to take photos of what was happening in the halls of the fair. So no action photos this time, but I’m sure there will be some drift events on my way through the country.

Till Sunday I never was really close to a race truck. They’re so huge compared to a “regular” racecar – amazing!

Also the engine is gigantic and just extreme. I think this engine has the size of a SMART.

There were a lot of exhibitors at the Speedshow. From car manufacturers to tuners, garages, detailers and also the D1 Drift Series of NZ had a booth.

They displayed some really nice drift cars as the JZ powered GT86 right in front or the colorful Nissan S15 from C’s Garage in the background.

The guys from the D1NZ were promoting the 2017/18 season and caught a lot of attention with their drift cars – savage! (Super beautiful S14 – nearly as beautiful als Marco Menkes 200SX)

After these drift cars it barely couldn’t get any better, but the next highlight was just around the corner – Mad Mike! Most famous Kiwi-Drifter was present and invited everyone to join him telling storys from when he was a kid and how he got into drifting. It was super interesting to listen to one of the biggest names in the worldwide drift sport.

After an hour of interesting questions he went outside for some photos and had a chat with some of the visitors. I called it a day and went off the area with a lot of new impressions.

As usual on car shows their is often a lot of great cars in the parking lot too, like this Soarer. They look kinda weird when they aren’t modified.

Make sure to see all the photos at our Facebook page soon!

Thanks a lot to Richard Gee and Denise Landow for your support.
